Quote of The Day:
“We’re ready to talk so we can explain the strategic importance of NAFTA for the region,” Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said on Thursday 11/10/2016.

THE STORY: Mexico says that they would like to discuss and modernise NAFTA but not renegotiated it.

WHAT HAPPEN?
The Mexican government wants to have a conversation with Donald Trump BUT not a renegotiation regarding the North American Free Trade Agreement. Also, The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he also wants to discuss this issue with both of the Mexicans and the Americans. NAFTA is a significant trade agreement between Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. that came into force during 1994. The reason that Mexico and Canada desire to speak to Mr. Trump about this treaty was that Mr. Trump considered this agreement to be the worst treaty that the U.S. has ever agreed on. Now, the Mexicans and the Canadians are fearful of losing their way to enter America’s economy, as they extremely rely on NAFTA. So far, there is still no set date for the discussion on NAFTA, but Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto claimed that President Trump and him already had an agreement to meet with each other. President Nieto is also hoping that he can talk to Mr. Trump, sometime before Trump’s inauguration in January.

WHAT ELSE?
Guess what, there’s a new player in the game! The British said that they could join NAFTA in the future.
There’s a possibility of Britain becoming a member state of NAFTA after it leaves the European Union (also known as Brexit). This plan is supported by the Conservative Members of Parliament because they want to make sure that Britain’s would obtain a great opportunity once the country is on its own. “This is one of the great virtues of Brexit – we can look at all these things and if we think they are good we can tag along” said Jacob Rees-Mogg MP. In addition, the UK is planning to leave the EU on March 2019.

REPEAT AFTER ME…
WHAT TO SAY TO AN OLD FRIEND THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE OUT OF SHAPE…
Heard about Cuba’s recent military drill yet? On November 9, 2016, Cuba stated its military exercises after finding out that Mr. Trump will be America’s new president. Cuba will hold five days of military exercises to get ready from what they considered to be “a range of enemy action”. In the past, Cuba had done similar exercises when there were frictions or to broadcast a signal to the Americans, according to the analysts. Moreover, when Mr. Trump was campaigning, he mentioned that he would change the recent harmonious relationship between Cuba and the US. He also tweeted: “Wow, President Obama just landed in Cuba, a big deal, and Raul Castro wasn’t even there to greet him. He greeted Pope and others. No respect”, perhaps Mr. Trump thinks that President Castro doesn’t respect President Obama as much because Castro did not greet him at the airport. However, Mr. Trump is still unsure of what his policies toward Cuba in the future will look like.
