I have chosen the ice cream and desserts theme and my list will be based on that theme. I am looking forward to taste some quality ice-cream and explore Columbus during the process. I am hoping to be more familiarized with Columbus at the end of this assignment. So far, I went to Graeter’s Ice Cream. The place was easy to find as it is of the same street with my dorm, Drackett Tower (both are on Lane Avenue). It is not very convenient to walk but a COTA bus will get you there in 10 minutes. I liked the chocolate chip, blueberry and lemon flavor the most. My favorite thing about the place was that there were a lot of options to pick from and they let you taste a sample of the ice cream flavor that you are curious about. I would definitely recommend this to a friend as the place is close to OSU, easy to find and has quality ice cream.
Continuing the ice cream and desserts theme, I then went to Jeni’s ice-cream in Easton Mall, which also gave me a chance to explore the mall as well. Easton is easily accessible both by car and bus. The flavors were very different from I expected, which made my experience more unique. I liked the peanut butter one the most, as I had it the first time. I also learned that there is another Jeni’s ice cream store in Downtown that could e more accessible to OSU student. I visited this place with Cedrik Seebohm, my roommate and a first year HES student.
Another place I visited to explore Columbus was the Columbus Museum of Art. I went there with my sister as it was recommended to both of us by multiple Columbus residents. The place was beautiful and included may paintings that belonged to modern art. I always thought modern art was not as impressive as historic art, but this museum made me rethink my views. The picture on the left was one of my favorite paintings of the museum, as the painter uses conversation bubbles to make a human figure. I would definitely recommend this place as it is unique and beautiful in its own way.
For Columbus Adventure with Peer Leader Group, we chose to go to Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar. Our trip there there allowed us to experience Downtown Area and Nationwide Arena, home of Columbus Blue Jackets. The restaurant was filled with Blue Jackets fans as the team had an away game against Washington Capitals; which made the atmosphere very thrilling. The pizza was exceptionally good and the desert section looked very promising. I would highly recommend the monster cookie as a desert. After our meal, we walked around the Arena for a bit to explore other stores to shop or eat at. I would highly recommend the Nationwide Arena area as there are quality restaurants and shops there.
