A fantastic field trip to the Ohio Supreme Court House thanks to the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars Program! During this trip we were given the opportunity to watch lawyers argue State v Beasley, the case of the “Craigslist Killer”.

G.O.A.L.S.

The first letter in the acronym G.O.A.L.S stands for Global Awareness. Throughout my time at OSU I plan to develop my appreciation for diversity and differences through future participation in study abroad. Currently, I am still deciding between two programs to be a part of for the end of my Sophomore year. These programs are either a trip with Global May or joining the Canadian Parliament Internship Program. The internship program is offered through the department of Political Science and I believe if I were a part of it I would be able to advance professionally as well as learn about other cultures and forms of government.

This was my final visit to OSU over the summer before freshman year! Along with my mom, my dad, and my dog we mapped out all my classes so I would be able to quickly find the rooms during my first week. In retrospect, this was very helpful but seems funny now as I can navigate the campus pretty well after only one semester here.

About Me

Emma King is a first year undergraduate in the College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in psychology and political science. Currently she is also a member of the Politics, Society, and Law scholars program at Ohio State. In the future she plans to attend law school where she will work to become a criminal defense attorney. After practicing law she hopes to continue towards working within the government. While still in high-school, Emma was involved in the theater department, speech and debate, and mock trial. One of the most impactful memories she has from her time in high-school was winning eighth in the world with the mock trial team at Empire New York. She plans on continuing her participation in extracurriculars at The Ohio State University. Outside of the classroom Emma is an equestrian, having competed for eight years. She is very excited for her time at Ohio State!
