Gillian Kim earned her doctoral degree in Arts Administration, Education, and Policy at The Ohio State University. She is currently a board member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators. She also served as the Delegate of the AAEP department and a member of the CGS Arts & Culture Committee. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in Communication Arts and Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her master’s degree in Arts Management from CMU’s Heinz College.
Prior to her graduate studies, Gillian worked in a variety of arts sectors, including the Busan International Film Festival, City Theatre, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum to provide more accessible arts programs to the public. She contributed to research projects Racial Equity & Arts Funding in Greater Pittsburgh, Arts and Economic Prosperity in Allegheny County, and Economic Impacts of the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium . Her master’s capstone project was titled Digital Opportunities: A Study of Emerging Digital Fundraising Practices. She is currently collaborating with Arts Education Partnership to study the characteristics of Arts Education Leadership. In 2022, her dissertation research won the Emily Mulcahy Student Research Award at the STP&A Conference.
