New Governance and Citizen Participation
in Creative Placemaking
With the emergence of the New Governance theory, a horizontal relationship between government and citizens has been highlighted in various fields of governance.
This research will address the relationship between New Governance and creative placemaking and pose critical questions about tokenism and citizen participation in the decision-making of arts districts.
Ultimately, it will identify citizens’ barriers to participating in the decision-making process of creative placemaking, find an opportunity to increase citizen participation in public administration and provide policy recommendations to reinforce the sustainability of the arts districts.
