I attended the American Heart Association’s Heat Walk as a scholars event. The event had an incredible turnout. It felt good to help raise money for heart disease research and awareness. This was really important to me because heart disease is one of the leading causes of death for men and women in the world. I thought it was incredible that so many people showed up to walk the walk and express their support of the American Heart Association. I gained an understanding of the magnitude of caring and supportive people there are from this experience. Before this, I would have never imagined that so many people would go to an event like this. This newfound understanding was confirmed when I attended another event similar to this. This event, Steps for Sarcoma, also had a great turn out and everyone involved were very kind and giving people. Knowing that there are such nice people in the world is really comforting.
