Year in Review

My workload this year has been harder than it ever has been in the past. Taking classes like o chem, o chem lab, and physics–all at the same time–has taught me study habits and time management skills that I did not necessarily need prior to this year. Additionally, I have added some extracurriculars and volunteer experiences, bolstering my résumé and improving my leadership skills. I received a promotion at work, going from a Supervisor to a Program Assistant in the Department of Recreational Sports. I was also elected Vice President of Finance for a non-profit organization called Universal Health Aid: Columbus. Both positions have put me in charge of people and have helped teach me conflict resolution, accountability, and confidence.

I have also been doing research in the OSU College of Pharmacy for a little over a year. I have been working with mice, weaning them, euthanizing them, and dissecting their brains to be analyzed. I will be continuing this research more intensively in the summer and will be using STEP money to pay for rent, groceries, and other essentials. I am excited to further improve my lab techniques and affirm my interest in doing research as part of my career. I’m looking forward to developing these skills and interests and forming mentor/mentee relationships that can benefit me as I apply to medical school and beyond. I am also excited to take a lighter course load next semester and to see what the year has in store for me.
