Week 8 Update

The following information was sent out in an email on 2/27/17, and has been added to the events calendar. We will have a first year meeting next Wednesday, March 8 where we will talk about the 2nd year project, introduce the new mentoring program, and have representatives from CRIS to talk about volunteer opportunities.


 Who Wants to Be a US Citizen (2 points)
Wednesday, March 1, 8:00pm, Glass Classroom
Midterms hard? Being a citizen might just be harder! Come play USA jeopardy with real citizenship test questions.  Hosted by the Smith-Steeb RAs.
Honors & Scholars ALL SKATE (1 point)
Wednesday, March 1, 8:00-11:00 pm, Chiller Ice Haus
Join the Honors and Scholars Programming Board on March 1st for a night full of skating, food, and fun!Buses will loop from campus with stops at Mid-Towers, Union, and Archer to take students downtown to the Chiller Ice Haus for free ice skating and pizza. Buses will start at 8PM and the last bus will leave for campus at 11PM. We look forward to seeing you all!
Documentary Series: Cartel Land (2 points)
Thursday, March 2, 7:00pm, Smith-Steeb 101
This 2015 documentary takes an in-depth look at the drug trafficking problem along the US-Mexican border and its effect on Mexican citizens. 
Arab Night (2 point)
Friday, March 3, 8:00, Ohio Union Performance Hall
Hosted by the Arab Student Union (ASU) Arab Night is a night of performances, including traditional dances, live music, poetry, a flag show, a fashion show and much more. The main goal for this event is to showcase the diversity of the Arab world and familiarize the audience with the Arab culture, through artistic and creative performances. Everyone is welcome to attend and it is free admission.
Columbus Symphony: Russian Winter Festival II (2 points)

Friday, March 3, 6:30-10:30pm, Meet at Ohio Union
The College of Arts and Sciences is sponsoring this Night at the Columbus Symphony Orchestra onFriday, March 3.  The night includes a pre-concert reception at the Urban Arts Space, followed by the Symphony performance of the Russian Winter Festival II.  Bus transportation, ticket, light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided free of charge.  Meet the bus at the Ohio Union bus turnaround at 6:30pm.  You will return to campus around 10:00pm.  RSVP Here.
 
Refugee Advocacy Training (2 points)

Saturday, March 4, 2:00-4:00pm, Ohio Union Cartoon Room
Hosted by Refuge, a newly formed student organization at OSU and Central Ohio Solidarity with Refugees and Immigrants, this training aims to look at the economic implications of refugees in the United States, how the vetting process works, what the resettlement process entrails and how to advocate for refugees at home and abroad. A guest speaker who plans to share a personal account about life as a newly resettled refugee. RSVP is not necessary but is requested by emailing centralohiorefugeessolidarity@gmail.com or through the Facebook page of Central Ohio Solidarity with Refugees and Immigrants
