MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING RESOURCES

School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Mental Health Counseling Services:

Counseling and consultation services are available to all students currently enrolled in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and the College of Medicine. These services include: individual therapy, group therapy and general mental health consultation.

*Please note: All services are delivered virtually and limited to current residents of Ohio.

The Ohio State University Counseling and Consultation Service (CCS)

CCS is the main counseling center on campus and provides comprehensive individual and group mental health services. CCS also offers a wide range of psychoeducational prevention and outreach programming. Among other areas, their services address stress management, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, transitions in life, identity exploration, substance use, eating concerns, feeling overwhelmed and academic adjustment. CCS staff offer therapy in numerous languages.

Community Provider Database 

The Ohio State University Counseling and Consultation Service (CCS) also provides a searchable database for students, faculty and staff wishing to explore mental health providers/services in their local community.

NON-EMERGENCY RESOURCES

HRS Student Resource Center

The HRS Student Resource Center is designed to provide short-term relief to students experiencing acute challenges in purchasing food, personal supplies, and school supplies.

Buckeye Food Alliance

Buckeye Food Alliance is a nonprofit, student-run food pantry at The Ohio State University serving the 15% of students that struggle with food insecurity.

  • Any current Ohio State undergraduate or graduate student with a valid BuckID can visit our pantry. We do not require any proof of financial need. Read more
  • We’re located in Lincoln Tower on West Campus. You can park in the loading alley at the base of the Tower. Call (614) 688-2508 and a volunteer will let you into the building.
  • You can also get to the pantry using the university CABS on the Campus Loop North and South routes.

Career Counseling and Support Services

Career Counseling and Support Services provides career counseling to all Ohio State students.

Common support offered by Career Counseling and Support Services:

  • Choosing the major that is right for you
  • Discussing and exploring career options or concerns
  • Creating editing your resume
  • Creating and editing your cover letter
  • Practicing interview skills

Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program

The Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program authorized by the Higher Education Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Education, supports the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education through the provision of quality licensed, nationally accredited campus or community childcare services for children 6 weeks to 12 years old.

  • Priority scheduling
  • School-based childcare
  • Evening childcare from 6-10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Mentoring/coaching to support
  • University and community resources and services, access to affordable housing

Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion supports the recruitment, retention and success of students, faculty and staff who enhance the diversity of The Ohio State University. ODI oversees the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center, the Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male, the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program, the nine-city Young Scholars Program, as well as being home to a wide-range of retention, mentoring, scholarship and access programs.

Office of Student Life Disability Services

The Office of Student Life Disability Services supports students wanting to register a documented disability (including mental health diagnoses). This support includes helping students to identify and navigate appropriate academic accommodations and services.

SMART Lab

SMART Lab provides several coaching, computer-mediated learning and group activity services to teach and research the efficacy of stress management and resiliency skills. SMART Lab offers individual and group biofeedback, meditation training, a student relaxation group and a veterans relaxation group.

Student Wellness Center

The Student Wellness Center provides resources and support for nine dimensions of wellness including:  emotional, career, social spiritual, physical, financial, intellectual, creative and environmental wellness.
