Students’ reflections April 25, 2018April 25, 2018 | Sarah Rusnak Wondering if this class is worth it? Here’s what past students had to say about the course as they neared the end of their experience. “Looking back on my personal learning objectives I realize how much this internship has helped me grow. Not only am I becoming more aware of the hardships that many people go through, but it has also opened my eyes in such a different way towards a field that I have been so in love with for so long. My personal objectives were about learning communication skills and ways to veer awkward situations. Going in and having conversations with patients has progressively gotten easier for me. The awkward situations have not stopped and the occasional language barriers haven’t either, but as you get more exposure to those situations you become better at dealing with them. I really do think that all in all this has been a great learning experience.”- Brenda V “I know that I have met my personal learning objectives; this internship has meant so much to me and I have truly tried to put my best foot forward every shift I have had at the hospital. Meeting new people has been one of my favorite parts, and I never really thought of it as networking until I was asked to look into a PCA position. Just being a part of the Wexner Medical Center family has been so humbling and has opened so many doors for me and I am sad to see it come to an end (until next year, hopefully). This week, I actually helped a woman who wasn’t even a patient, who could barely walk on her own. She was so sweet and so appreciative, and it is moments like these that have confirmed that my future lies somewhere in the medical field.” – Reaghan T
