Problem Statements:
- Design a product that allows the user with limited muscle strength or amputation to easily lift and move heavy objects in the kitchen without struggle or risk of injury.
- Design a product that prevents the spilling of bottles and liquids when the user is pouring by providing support to bottles and cups to prevent unwanted movement.
- Design a product that allows the user to more easily open everyday items such as a yogurt cup without excess spilling, while adding stability to the item being opened.
- Design a product that prevents injuries from cutting produce by limiting external movement by cutting device and keeps the produce still.
Team Ideas:
Pulley System: This product would be used in the kitchen to pull up heavy pots and plates that would be difficult to hold with one hand. This pulley system would be easily connected and allow a dumping process as well.
Suction Cup Stickers: These stickers would be used for things like yogurt cups to keep them stable on the table when using. They would be reusable and made out of anti-slip rubber. These could also be used for produce as well.
Self-Cutting Board: This cutting board would be used similarly to a paper cutter. It would allow more strength for those with only one hand, and position things like bread or other food to be stable when cutting.
Tongs: These “tongs” would work almost like vice grips. This would enable the user to lift heavy items like a steaming pot or heavy tray with the use of one hand and have the stability to move it with optimal safety.
