Individual Concept Generation

Chris:

  1. Arm Restraint: These sketches look into potential arm bands to allow the user to hold heavy and large objects more easily.
  2. Handles: These sketches look into potential handles to allow users to maximize the object’s usefulness
  3. Tray Grabber: These designs look into potential ways to grab pans and trays out of an oven.

Jacob:

1. Multi – Use Cutting Board: This product looks into assisting with cutting items, as well as bracing produce when cutting.

2. Anti-spill Pot with Muscle Support: This product addresses the safety concerns of a user with only one hand lifting a heavy and hot item such as a pot full of boiling water.

3.  Bottle and Cup Sleeve: This product will allow the user to brace and steady items such as a cup or bottle when opening or pouring liquids.

Brandon:

1. Egg Cracker: This egg cracker will make cracking eggs with one hand an easy process. All the individual will have to do is place the egg in the rectangular egg holder, and with the press of a button a blade will break the shell of the egg, prompting all of contents to fall into the bowl. Users also would not have to worry about those pesky egg shells falling through, as there will be a metal net in-between the blade and the bowl to filter out any eggs shell bits that go down with it.

2. Meat Carver: This meat carver will help one handed individuals cut and slice into larger clunks of meat like brisket or ham. How this meat carver works is simple, place the meat onto the cutting board, and secure it tightly within the sliding wall holders. Take any elongated knife and slide it in-between the knife holders. The knife holders will help the user cut down in a perfect line, instead of cutting at an unwanted angle.

3. Cheese Grater: This cheese grater is simple. Place the cheese into the top metal teeth, and select which cheese grater you wish to put in (all graters will come with the product, different graters make for different slices. The user will simply have to grip his hand together over the leaver, and both the cheese and the grater will move in opposing directions, causing the cheese to fall nicely into the users plate.

Danny:

The Leverage Opener- a rounded design which is used to clip onto the tab of the yogurt container top. There is a small button on the handle which clamps the tab. The rounded design allows the users to push down on the opener, keeping weight on the container. At the same time, the shape of the device begins to roll, pulling open the container

Micro Suction Holster Pads-Double-sided rubber pads featuring micro suction technology which is used in numerous industrial processes. The miniscule suction cups give the pad an adhesive nature on both sides. This allows the holster to be used to stabilize bowls, glasses, and other kitchen objects on top of a counter. The pads could come in all shapes and sizes.

Kitchen Pulley System- A simple structure of ropes and pulleys attached to the ceiling. A rope hangs down with interchangeable hooks used to pick up different heavy items. This feature would be useful for amputees with reduced muscle strength, as even moving heavy cans and jars can be tough for them.

Joe:

  1. Lock-and-Rock Blade: This blade has a stand and locking mechanism that enables the user to slice food items (e.g. pizza) by simply pushing/pulling a handle which moves the blade from edge-to-edge in a rocking fashion. Those with limited strength would benefit from this as the device provides more leverage and a specific cutting action.

  2. Pouring-Pocket: Non-slip, half-cylinder pocket which is attached to an adjustable stand (which can be anchored to the end of a table or counter top). It allows the user to secure the bottle, and choose the exact angle from which to pour the bottle.

  3. Peel-Pal: Used for opening plastic covers on yogurt cups and the like. It has a small clamp to attach to the peel-back strip, and holes on either side to insert two fingers (from one hand or both). From there, a person with limited physical strength could more easily remove yogurt tops.
