About Me

My name is Mackenzie Heareth and I am going to be a first year at Ohio State this fall.  I am a pre-nursing major and intend on becoming a neo-natal nurse in the future. I also hope to minor in Spanish so that I can travel internationally and obtain the most benefit of my nursing degree. For as long as I can remember, I have played sports, gone to all different level games, and enjoyed every minute of it. I continued my sport career through high school, playing fast pitch softball. I joined the Dunn Sport and Wellness Scholars Program, not only because of my love of sports but also because of the family the program brings with it. I look forward to building relationships through love of sports and the shared Buckeye love.

I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky, the Bluegrass State home of The Kentucky Derby. I moved to Kentucky from Columbus when I was 2 years old. Fun Fact-I went to my first OSU football game at 6 weeks old! While I do LOVE my Old Kentucky Home, Columbus is starting to grow on me.

Outside of sports, I have many hobbies. Some of which include trying any and all restaurants possible, binge watching episode after episode of Dexter on Netflix (really anything on Netflix is open to binge-watching by me), and listening to music. My family plans to come and visit me often, as their love for Columbus has grown as well! My mom is an interior designer who also played softball and graduated from Florida State University. My dad is in the industry of building and construction management and actually graduated from the University of Cincinnati alongside fraternity brother, Urban Meyer. I also have a younger brother, Ryan, as well as 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a parakeet at home, each of which I love with my whole heart.

I can’t wait to see all that I will become at Ohio State over these next four years!
