Module 7: Maintaining Motivation

In this module, I learned how to help me build and maintain motivation. I think the most useful thing I learned in this module is to find the motivation that interests me and maintain it. For example, in the power point of the course, it is pointed out that when learning any knowledge, it is not just learning, but it needs to be applied to life, and connect the learned knowledge to the place where you need to apply (http://a.co/8rKBH6Y). Maybe I am not interested in taking sports courses, but if I apply the knowledge I learned in the courses to my life, my thinking may be different. In life I need to lose weight. This is a long-term goal. I can apply what I have learned in class to my weight loss process. This makes me more interested in this course, and at the same time, it is also very helpful for my weight loss.

The method I learned in this module is already using the Forest app (https://www.forestapp.cc). This app helps me control the reduction of concentration due to mobile phones. I set a time when I need to finish my homework. During this time, I do n’t look at my phone so I can plant a small tree on my phone at the end of the time. I can use it during exercises, reading or resting where I need build my concentration. This not only allows me to control the time of using the phone, but also, I will be rewarded after completing tasks.

In the future, I will try the methods mentioned in the module to help me reduce my drowsiness when completing tasks. The methods mentioned in the course power point are: fixed bed and wake-up time, forming a morning routine, and a bedtime routine. When I have enough and good quality sleep, I won’t feel sleepy when I finish the task.

The advice to students is that everything we ca n’t do is something we like, so it ’s very important to build motivation when we encounter something we ’re not interested in. Find a suitable environment for your work, because some people like a very quiet environment, some people like a little music or sound environment. At the same time, don’t feel anxious because of reduced motivation, because many people have encountered the same problem. After finding the problem, solving the problem is the most important.
