Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. At the begging of this year I remember being so stressed out the first week of classes and having no idea of how to use Carmen. Looking back at it now, I realize how far I’ve come as a person and a student. As a person, I am going out of my comfort zone and having new experiences and meeting so many amazing people. For example, I’ve met some of my best friends that only lived just across the hall from me and I’ve joined a sorority that has lead me to some of the most inspiring and hilarious people ever. As a student, I’ve balanced more classes, clubs, and volunteering hours than I though was even possible. I learned that instead of staying in bed when I have free time, I should really be at office hours getting help. Also, volunteering at a lab, although I’m there 9 hours a week, is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The secret that has really helped me to accomplish all these amazing things as a first year is to always keep an open mind and always stay organized. Keeping a schedule full of all my club events, office hours, and due dates has helped shaped me to be the student I am today. Overall, I had an amazing first year and can’t wait for the future!
