For this phase of the design process, each member of the team generated ideas for solutions to the problems identified during the Problem Definition phase. Each idea has an associated sketch to depict the possible solution.

Group Ideation:
As a group, we shared all the designs ideas from our individual ideation and learned a bit more about each idea through discussion. From there, we sorted through the ideas and selected the innovative ideas we felt best addressed the greenhouse problems. Through further group discussion, we improved upon the original designs with new variations.

Reflection
As a group we enjoyed the concept generation phase and seeing what each other came up with. Having to explain our designs to each other made us think deeper about our designs and consider things we hadn’t before. We were able to pick interesting and innovative components from each other’s designs and apply to others in new ways. In our selections, we first tried to eliminate any boring or obvious designs, and designs that seemed infeasible, and tried to choose the best designs from each variation. We then discussed how we were going to design our next six variations, and created two of our own. We each chose one to prototype. Pictures are shown on our prototype page.
