About Me

My name is Jackie Green. I was born in Germany but was raised in Illinois, living there from my early childhood up until I began college. I am currently enrolled in the Exploration program at Ohio State. I am undecided in regards to my specific academic and career goals, but would ideally study and and gain employment in either the technology, business, or environmental field. During my time at Ohio State, I hope to fully explore each of my primary academic interests while rounding out my college experience by studying and possibly minoring in German, working a job on campus,  getting involved in a few meaningful extracurriculars, gaining experience relevant to the field I choose to pursue through undergraduate research and an internship at some point in my last two years, and going on a study abroad trip.

I am also a part of the Environment and Natural Resources Scholars program. I believe that sustainability and environmental awareness are of value to learn about for everyone, regardless of their professional goals. Not only can understanding of the impact of certain actions on the environment be used in one’s personal life, but also has the potential to inform their decisions in the workplace, ultimately resulting in a more sustainable world through the collective results of several small actions, whether it be an office worker reducing paper waste by using more digital communication, or an engineer opting for a more ecologically friendly option when selecting materials for a project. Through my experience in scholars, I hope to learn more about sustainability, so that I have the knowledge and tools necessary to do my part in maintaining the environment. I also expect to gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world through the seminars, educational trips, volunteering experiences, and outdoor adventures organized by ENR Scholars.image
