Apples are first grown at in apple orchards or pastures and once picked are sent to the processing stage. During processing, apples are sorted, cleaned, and divided into main component parts so that they are ready to be packaged and exported in 12 kg cartons.
Apples have a social impact when it comes to the manufacturing process. A orchard in Manjimup, Western Australia is one of the largest orchards and pack-house facilities. The orchard employs 35 employers and and up to 70 employers for seasonal jobs. The same orchard supplies major chains of supermarkets throughout the UK as well.
