Apples are consumed by people all over the world and are both a “healthy snack and used in cooking” (Apple and Pear Australia). There are many different kinds of apples grown in Australia for consumption, there are; “royal gala, jonathan, golden delicious, red delicious, jonagold, fuji, braeburn, pink lady, granny smith, jazz, and sundowner” (Apple and Pear Australia). These are the different types of apples and they are consumed in different ways; whether it being eating an apple whole, drinking apple juice, eating applesauce and many others. Also apples are picked at different times of the year for consumption.
Apples also have a social impact when it comes to consumption because they are a healthy snack. From a peer reviewed journal about medicine, it mentioned the benefits apples have on us. Most people probably remember the nursery rhyme about apples and how eating “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” , but this has been around for so long that there must be some truth behind it. In the article the benefits of apples are mentioned and not only are apples healthy, they are also good for our teeth. Apples have many healthy vitamins and minerals that are good for our bodies, they contain; “vitamin C, phytonutrient, pectin, and quercetin” (Mumoli). Apples are also good for consumption because they are “low in caloric density”, which is another aspect of an apple that is good for our health (Mumoli).
