About Me

Welcome! I am a seventh year PhD student in the Department of Mathematics here at the Ohio State University and have lived here in Columbus since July 2013. Before then, I lived with my parents and three siblings in Yorba Linda, a city in the northeast part of Orange County in southern California that’s about 30 miles southeast of Los Angeles as the crow flies. The city is perhaps best known for being Richard Nixon’s birthplace, and his presidential library is just a few miles down the boulevard from the house I grew up in. It’s also the next city over from Anaheim, which is best known for being home to Disneyland, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Los Angeles Angels. I could hear the fireworks from Disneyland out in the distance every day if I paid attention.

My siblings and me. We’re weird and proud.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics, Summa Cum Laude and with University Honors (a link to my expository honors thesis, titled Integer-valued polynomials and the QR-property and written under the direction of Professor David Rush, is forthcoming) at the University of California at Riverside (UCR). I had a terrific time there, and I’m grateful for the excellent professors I had there, particularly John Baez for convincing me to major in math and David Rush for convincing me to pursue commutative algebra under the direction of Alan Loper here. See my CV for more specific professional information.

Among other things, I like to play guitar and violin in my free time, and I’m an avid gamer (some favorites: Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and Castlevania). Also, I’m a huge fan of punk rock from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s (especially in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Washington, D.C.), some folk, some metal, and some avant-garde instrumental jazz.
