This project arose out of simple curiosity. One of the members had just started online dating and was receiving copious amounts of pickup lines, so she started to wonder if she could base an entire project on this. When the idea was presented, others jumped on board and the research began in earnest. A pickup line seems like such a mundane thing, yet when viewed through the lens of folklore, many mundane things take on new significance.
