Academic Enrichment: I hope to take courses that will fulfill the prerequisites to get me to vet school. I am currently a biomedical engineering major, which means I will need to take some extra classes to fulfill that requirement, but I look forward to that because I am just getting a wider range of knowledge from this university. I feel like by doing this, I will get to experience more of what Ohio State has to offer, and will make me a better thinker and well rounded individual.

One instance of my experience in academic enrichment was my work in engineering over the last semester. 3 other people and I worked on an Advance Energy Vehicle design for our engineering class. This project was over the entire semester and was a big success. For more information, you can see our work at https://u.osu.edu/engr1182sp177237groupc/

Service Engagement: I feel very blessed with the opportunity that I have to come to this university. I feel like it is important to give something back to the community that has already given me so much. By doing service, I think I can also get more real world experience. By going out in the community, I can see first hand what could be improved in the community or think about how to develop solutions to improve the quality of the society.

One instance of my service engagement is volunteering with a friend for a split the pot at the Columbus Crew game. We went there well before the gates opened and started selling tickets from then to halftime. My friend was involved in a group called ,”Rally Cap Sports,” that organizes sports games for special needs kids, and some of the money from the split the pot went to this group. This event was wonderful because I got to help a friend out, and also raise some money for a wonderful organization.

Original Inquiry: I think that getting an opportunity to do research would be one of the most beneficial things to do here. This will give an excellent opportunity to fully understand a particular field of interest and also will look very good on a resume to vet school. I think it would show real dedication to the scientific field, and will make me think at a higher level after that research concludes. It would also give me a chance to develop solid relationships with professors who could write me recommendation letters in the future.

I have not gotten involved in research so far here at Ohio State, but my plan is to begin looking for Co-Ops and internships once I officially get accepted into my engineering major.
