1536: The Norweigan flag while under Danish control

1814: The first war flag of independent Norway. Features the Norweigan Lion in the top left corner

1818: A common flag used for both Norway and Sweden while the two were united

1821: First design of today’s flag. Designed by Fredrik Meltzer

1844: This Union Mark featuring colors of both Sweden and Norway was placed on the corner of both nations flags in 1844

1899: Today’s flag was first flown. It has been the flag of Norway ever since

1697: The flag of the Princes of Brazil, the heir apparent to the Portuguese throne.  Used as the flag of Brazil due to the namesake of the Princes

1816: Flag of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves. First flag that was used when Brazil was elevated to a kingdom

1822: Flag of the Independent Kingdom of Brazil

1870: Modified version of the 1822 flag with the crown changed. It was created after the Brazilian declaration of independence. The first flag of the empire of Brazil

1889: The first flag of Brazil after its proclamation as a republic. flown for only four days in November of 1889. Was ordered to be redesigned by the provisional president of Brazil due to its close appearance to the flag of another nation.

1889: Designed to somewhat resemble the old imperial flag. Intended to emphasize national unity during the transition from a constitutional monarchy to a republic. Imperial Coat of Arms was replaced with a Blue globe and the national motto

1960: Modification of the Flag to include new stars
