Year in Review

In my first semester of college, I have had some of the best and most memorable experiences of my life. The one that sticks out the most is going to all of the football games, especially when we beat Penn State. Going to your first buckeye football game in Ohio Stadium is really one of the most mind-blowing things I’ve ever seen. It was so much fun to enjoy all these games with the new friends I’ve made so far at Ohio State, through the ups and downs of the season, we endured it together. I have also made a ton of memories just hanging out in my dorm because I have made so many new great friends in my first semester. I love my friends back home, but I feel like at college, you find a crowd you click with more because there is so many more people. In high school, you’re limited to however many people there are in your high school. I have had many nights just hanging out, having fun with friends, and talking until 4 am and I didn’t even realize because time truly does fly when you’re having fun.

Artifacts

An artifact that I have that I really think represents my first semester of college for me is a picture of me and my DSWS family on the field at Ohio stadium. It was the second day of welcome week, and I think that was the day I truly fell in love with Ohio State. I love the school, the people, the atmosphere, everything about Ohio State is amazing. I was nervous coming to this huge school about making new friends than the ones I already had back in high school. I am not a super talkative person so I thought it would be difficult finding a good group of people that I really could click with. I was far from right. The first days of welcome week, I found a great group of people in DSWS. I think joining this scholars program at Ohio State was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I have made friends that I think could last a lifetime and its only the first semester! I have 3 and a half more years at least with these amazing people and I am so grateful that I was accepted into this program, because without it, I don’t know if I would be as happy as I am at Ohio State that I am today.

About Me

Josh Ferrell is a first year undergraduate student at The Ohio State University. I am from Loveland, Ohio, about 30 minutes outside of Cincinnati. I have a brother who is a second year undergraduate student at Ohio State, and a sister who is a freshmen in high school. I am a Health Sciences major hoping to go to PA Graduate school after my undergraduate. I chose this major because I love helping people and the medical field has always interested me, so this is a perfect way to combine the two.  In high school I played football and lacrosse, and I have played the cello since 5th grade. Ever since I was a young kid, I have loved to play sports. I met almost all of my good friends growing up by being on the same football, basketball, or lacrosse team. I try to stay active and play at least one sport per week. Family, friends, and school are very important to me.
