DocuSign is a cloud-based electronic signature service. DocuSign allows for the creation of reusable templates to be sent electronically for signature. DocuSign is accessible, secure, compliant with university policies, and capable of routing documents for signature in bulk. DocuSign also integrates with the university’s enterprise document management system and can be configured to store signed documents automatically.
DocuSign’s electronic signature meets university requirements for a legally binding electronic signature when configured appropriately. The authenticity requirement for electronic signatures can vary in DocuSign depending on the protocol.
Remote Signing, University Faculty, Staff and Students – DocuSign is configured to use the university’s single sign-on service (Shibboleth) to verify a signer’s identity. DocuSign envelopes sent to any name.#@osu.edu email will require the signer to login at the time of signature.
Remote Signing, SMS Authentication – DocuSign can be configured to require SMS (text message) authentication for signers. Study Coordinators will need to select SMS authentication, provide the participants cell phone number and email address at the time of sending envelopes. Participants receive invitation to sign via email, and are required to receive a text message at the phone number the Study Coordinator entered at the time of sending.
Remote Signing, Access Code – DocuSign can be configured to require an access code at the time of signature. Study Coordinators will need to select access code authentication at the time of sending. Participants will need to be contacted via Phone and provided with the unique access code needed for signature.
