The Mission

After being closed for over a decade, Jurassic Park wants to reopen its doors to the public. Before doing so, the park needs an energy efficient, cost effective monorail system to transport its visitors. Energy efficiency is crucial because the park is located on an island where access to power is limited. In addition to this, the vehicle will be unmanned so as to allow the tour guide to focus on human safety and providing a full focused tour. This means that an external command center or a pre-programmed route will be necessary. Other requirements for the system include it being above ground traffic, traveling both forward and backward, and using an air driven propulsion system along with Li-PO batteries.

The main focus of this project was to achieve energy management, operational efficiency, and operational consistency. In order to achieve these goals, Group D came up with preliminary designs and codes, conducted a series of tests, gathered the data, analyzed the results, adjusted the design and code accordingly, and finally chose the most energy efficient, cost effective option.
