Lab 4 was split up into two major parts. Lab 4a pertained to system analysis. It asked the team to download data from the automatic control system, convert EEPROM arduino data to physical parameters, and calculate performance characteristics using the converted physical parameters. Lab 4b pertained to the design analysis tool. The design analysis tool is based on MATLAB and the teams job was to become familiar with it. That included uploading wind tunnel data and arduino data to the design analysis tool. Also, the team was asked to perform analysis of an AEV operation and then export the plots for documentation.
The team learned how to manually perform the time, distance, position, current, voltage, supplied power, and incremental energy calculations. Then more importantly the team learned how to download and interpret data from test runs correctly and quickly. This skill then allows for more test runs which will aid in a better final AEV code.
In upcoming labs, design screening and scoring will be completed in order to determine the best AEV design without having to assemble and test each one individually.
