Lab 09 was the second of four performance tests. This test was all about creating two different codes to test with the AEV design that was chosen in lab 08. Neither of the codes created in this lab was the one used during the final testing because the team had not received the 3D printed servo arm yet. The main difference in the codes constructed during this lab was that one code used the reverse function to stop the AEV and the second did not. The first used the reverse command to stop the AEV at the gates and at the ends of the track. The second code cut the motors off at a distance where the AEV would be able to coast to a stop where need be, if ot were at the gates or at the ends of the track. The second code was much better pertaining to energy efficiency but was a lot less consistent than the first code.
The team learned from this lab that without the use of the servo motor to stop the AEV, the reverse function had to be used in order to stop it where it needs to stop in concordance to the MCR.
In future labs the team will further perfect the code and the design of the AEV in order to complete the MCR up to its specifications.
