Lab 08 was a crucial part in the teams overall success as it was perfecting the design of the AEV. Two prototypes were created to be tested and further evaluated to see which design performed better. A code was created for both AEV’s to be tested with and then each AEV was run. The data was uploaded to MATLAB so the team could evaluate which design was more energy efficient. Once the data was fully analyzed the team chose which AEV design to continue towards the MCR with.
The team learned that the code has to be customized to the AEV design it is running with. The team figured that once a code was constructed to run with the much lighter design the results would show that prototype one was clearly the choice to continue with.
In the future labs the team will perfect the code for the final AEV run. The code is possibly the most important part of conserving energy so many trials will be run to see what code works best.
Most of what was done in lab 8 was highlighted in the preliminary design report.
