  • Nicole Luthy, Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Operations, to provide updates and answer questions
    • Budget Questions:
      • Conference/PD/Training in the budget this year?
        • Academic Units have their budget; Administrative units the director has a budget request. If you have requests, please let your director know to add them to the budget.
        • Nicole is creating a fund for staff to support their learning and to invest in staff.
      • Timeline for further cuts in the budget?
        • No additional cuts at this time. The initial budget was a 3-year plan.  There may be adjustments each year depending on the year.
        • Remember the general budget is a 3-year average based on enrollments. The Covid years hurt our budget and we are out of that 3-year average and are moving forward with increasing enrollments.  This year’s PAF is over 100+ students for first-year students for the 24-25 year.  Transfer and campus change numbers will be available at the end of June.
      • Workforce Document impacting the budget?
        • Continuing to work on the document related to staff that was impacted by growth, declines, state policy, and law changes
        • This document helps us to anticipate needs. We understand now there are inequalities in staff levels across the college.  We will use the workforce document to drive hiring needs which impacts the budget but then can plan accordingly.
        • This will be a yearly update
      • Program Review Process and Implications?
        • Committee is faculty and staff (Andy Zircher, Pete Locasio, Nicole Luthy)
        • Looking at academic programs that are not thriving with low enrollment, looking at the viability of programs with a market analysis.
        • Identifying criteria when evaluating programs
        • By fall each program will receive a profile and viability (most are grad programs)
        • Closure – it is a faculty initiative to make decisions. Options include: closed, merged, and online.
        • Impact on staff is unknown. It is a 5-year process to close.  Options for staff include re-position within college or leave.
        • Nothing happening this year – accessing programs now.
        • University is also looking at low enrollment programs in EHE and across OSU.
      • Equity Report
        • From the report, there were PD requests to support staff.
