March 2024 Notes

EHE Staff Advisory Council

 Meeting Notes

3.21.24

Attendees: Julie Miller, Samantha Peterson,  Melanie Qualls, Jessica Woodruff, Bobbie Sin, Nancy Dugan,

Welcome:  Julie welcomed the group and shared the agenda

Change in Leadership:   Ryan has stepped away from EHE SAC leadership and committee

College Council Update:  The Dean and his leadership team shared general information about the Budget, and shared the town hall minutes and Q & A before the meeting.  The Council will read and if they have questions, will share with the Dean so that he can respond at the next meeting.   If you didn’t see the Townhall information document or committees, let Nancy or Julie know and they will share the documents.  The dean shared similar information from our meeting with the dean. In summary, no hires, no searches, reduction in units, and pauses in initiatives.  Committees are meeting to make upcoming decisions.

Subcommittees:

Professional Development:  LinkedIn Learning was recorded and can be shared.  Other webinars/workshops will be recorded and shared.  The committee will work on a list of professional development opportunities and grants to be shared in the Insider.  *

Recognition Committee:  Working on a spring event like the December event; the College has suggested hosting the ice cream social for the summer.  The committee will brainstorm and come up with other options such as a service project.

  • Remember the College Staff Awards/nominations are due by May 1st. The committee will send winners to the dean’s office by May 10th.  Monthly Spotlights on Staff.

EHE SAC Survey: the committee is meeting next week to discuss the survey and focus on a specific topic, possibly Remote Work.  Working with Nicole Luthy to finalize the survey.  Talking with Nicole about what is the college’s goal with the survey and what type of information are they looking for.  The committee has already reviewed the document and has started to make changes and updates.  The survey will go out in the summer.

Follow-up from Staff Equity Report notes will be shared with Julie.  Topics of concern included the need for more advanced communication on events and meetings, at least 3 weeks so all groups have the opportunity to attend.  Many feel left out.  With the ice cream social in the summer not all staff based on their work cannot participate, could the college/dean either give “time” or a voucher for those staff who cannot attend based on their work commitments?  Another concern is pay equity.  Several staff in one unit 2 years ago were targeted as being below market value in their pay and nothing has been done.  Also, staff were disappointed in stopping the winter recess.  USAC has winter recess as a top priority.

Subcommittees met after meeting.
