Brandon received his B.S in Life and Earth Science Education from BGSU and his M. Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The University of Toledo.  

 Brandon’s EHE journey begins back in October of 2019 where his first role was a Human Sciences Academic Advisor. He spent 3.5 years in academic advising before being promoted to his current role as a retention specialist. In this role, he works with our EHE students to improve their academic study skills as their success coach.  He is the coordinator of 2 affinity groups, EHE Pride and EHE 1st Gen, he is the campus change coordinator for the college, he teaches a section of EHE 1100 (survey), he works with Dr. David Graham’s team on the CUSN (cross-university support network) team working with our EHE non-affiliated students, and lastly he teaches a study skills course through the Dennis Learning Center. He has been at The Ohio State University for 7 years in total. Brandon is excited to serve on EHE SAC!  


Samantha Peterson, Co-Chair

Samantha earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human development and family science and a Master of Science degree in early childhood development and education; both degrees were earned through the college of Education and Human Ecology at OSU.  Samantha is an early childhood developmental specialist through the State of Ohio, is Level 3 Trauma Competent in Trauma Informed Care, holds the Ohio PROMISE Inclusion Credential, and is a certified First Aid & CPR skills instructor.   Samantha has worked at OSU and in EHE since 2007 at the A. Sophie Rogers School for Early Learning at the Schoenbaum Family Center as an educator and administrator of the demonstration school.  


Heather Long, Secretary

Placement and Licensure Coordinator
Office: Accreditation, Placement and Licensure

Heather joined EHE in the summer of 2014. She spent 8 years in academic advising before joining the Office of Accreditation, Placement, and Licensure. She now serves as the liaison between P-12 districts/agencies and Ohio State by managing field placement experiences for students pursuing educator preparation programs. She also verifies eligibility for educator licensure in Ohio and out of state.

Emily Hiatt

Emily Hiatt is the Program Manger for the Center for Digital Learning and Innovation.  She is a graduate of the College of Education and Human Ecology and after spending the first part of her career in K12 education, she returned to the University in 2019.  She currently assists in coordinating the college’s Creativity and Innovation Design Network program, which facilitates tech related outreach projects in local K12 Schools and community organizations.  She also works with staff and faculty from across the college to support online program development at EHE. 

 


Maggie Kruth

Maggie received a B.A. in International Studies and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After attaining her M.S.Ed. from Johns Hopkins University in 2020, Maggie moved from K-12 to higher education. Maggie has been a part of the Buckeye family since August of 2021 working in the College of Arts and Sciences before moving to Education and Human Ecology. In her free time, Maggie enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, playing sand volleyball, and spending time with her dog, Mango.

 

 


 

Susan Lee

Susan returned to Ohio State University to begin work in EHE as a Human Sciences Academic Advisor in 2022. Prior to arriving in EHE, her career in higher education administration included leadership roles in Student Affairs and Services, Academic Affairs, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies at The College of Wooster, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Ohio State University. 


Jim Lingo

Jim received his B.A in Sociology with a minor in Political Science, as well as his M.S.Ed in Student Affairs Leadership and Practice from Youngstown State University. Jim has been with the university since 2017 and has served in various roles and units. In 2018, Jim joined EHE as an academic advisor for Human Science majors. He has also served as an academic planning specialist, orientation lead, student-athlete advisor, and interim recruitment specialist. In 2022, he moved into his current role as career development manager and works exclusively with Human Science majors in the college. Jim is excited to advocate for and support fellow colleagues through the EHE SAC. 

 


  Tessa Mahler

Tessa is currently a licensure coordinator within the Office of Academic Services in the Department of Teaching and Learning.  She has been a staff member with OSU since 2020.  Tessa oversees the MEd program, endorsements, certificates, and licensure-only programs in the department.  Tessa received her undergraduate degree in Middle Childhood Education from Baldwin Wallace University and her graduate degree in Higher Education & Student Personnel from Kent State University.  Tessa is excited to be a part of the EHE SAC. 

 


Angela Martin

Early Head Start Home Visitor

Angela Martin is an Early Head Start Home Visitor for Ohio State University. Her role with families is to encourage learning opportunities in the home, support developmental growth, and link to necessary services. Angela received her undergraduate degree in Family Studies from Ohio University and earned a master’s level certificate for Nonprofit and Public Leadership from the John Glenn College of Ohio State University. Throughout her career, Angela has focused on supporting families, particularly children, and her previous work has included being a caseworker for Franklin County Children Services and leading educational programs for the City of Groveport. In her over 25 years of job experience, it has been her honor to have worked with so many amazing children and families, helping them reach their full potential. It is Angela’s goal to expand her reach by becoming a strong advocate for children. 


Lakisha Mays

As an Academic Program Specialist in the Department of Educational Studies, Lakisha draws from a robust academic background and extensive professional experience to support and enhance the educational journeys of her students. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ohio State University and two Master of Arts degrees from Ohio University—one in Higher Education Student Affairs and the other in Organizational Communications. 

In her current role, Lakisha interacts daily with a diverse student body, including working professionals, promoting excellence in communication and customer service. She has honed her skills in complex problem-solving, ensuring that she considers both the intended and unintended consequences of any process or policy change. Lakisha’s teamwork proficiency is complemented by her previous work experience in financial aid, admissions, and serving as a frontline customer service support staff member to adult learners.   

Lakisha is committed to finding new challenges within her current role by deepening her understanding of various processes and projects. Her professional journey signifies a dedication to fostering a supportive and efficient academic environment. 

Outside of work, Lakisha is enthusiastic about gardening, traveling, and expanding her Afrobeats playlist. She is also dedicated to being a compassionate spouse, daughter, sibling, friend, and coworker. 


Bobbie Sin

Event Coordinator
Office: Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE)

 

As an Event Coordinator CETE, Bobbie is the lead for the CARE committee. She along with talented committee members plan fun and interactive events for staff.  She has been involved at the University level, as an event planning committee member of the Association of Staff and Faculty Women (ASFW) at OSU.  Her current project work involves the Ohio Aspire Professional Development Network (PDN) where she coordinates statewide trainings that the PDN hosts for adult education administrators, teachers, and support staff as well as planning the statewide annual conference for the Ohio Association of Adult & Continuing Education (OAACE).  She became an OSU Mom in 2020 when her daughter became a student at OSU.  She is excited to serve on the EHE SAC.


Casey Smith

Casey earned her B.S. in English Language Arts Education from the University of Central Florida, her M.A. in Philosophy and Education from Columbia University, and her PhD in Educational Studies from Ohio State University. Her academic work explores topics such as the role of shame in education and how poetry can be used as a teaching tool to connect the philosophy of education to the lived experiences of educators. Casey currently works as an Academic Advisor in the College of Education and Human Ecology, where she helps undergraduate students plan out their own academic journeys.  


Jess Woodruff

Office: Early Head Start/Head Start Partnership Program


Jessica has worked with the Early Head Start/Head Start Partnership Program since 2017.  She manages data collection and integrity, performs quality assurance activities, onboards and provides professional development for partners, and technical support. She has over 20 years of experience with project management and process improvement.  She has a master’s degree in business psychology and recently earned her Certification in Practice of Data Analytics from The Ohio State University.
