EHE Staff Advisory Council

 Meeting Notes

Attendees: Julie Miller, Samantha Peterson,  Melanie Qualls, Jessica Woodruff, Bobbie Sin, Jackie von Speigel, Heather Long, Megan Znidarsic,k Carlotta Penn, Nancy Dugan

Welcome:  Julie welcomed the group and shared the agenda

College Council Update: 

  • Faculty Workload policy: several older versions by department and working on a college-wide faculty workload policy.  Faculty should have received Qualtrics for feedback and suggestions, the policy is to be more efficient and have the policy in place for the fall semester.  Questions: policy with the diversity of our programs and how to make them fair, will the agreements for new faculty be honored? chairs will have some flexibility with workload based on programs, budget, etc; fiscal questions asked related to the set up of workload policy and buyouts.
  • Fiscal was available to answer questions about fiscal and how different policies work with fiscal. Document shared with fiscal implications of programs in terms of dollars in versus spent, highlighting programs that are in a deficit.  This was a snapshot of information from fall semester.  It changes over time and is not the only data point making decisions on programs.
  • Membership/Elections: member positions are 3 years.  Please share if you are still interested in participating in the college council.  There are several individuals whose term is ending – please advise.  We will move forward with elections and share with your colleagues.

Wellness Updates:  Working with EAP and Stacey Dorr (EHE:  Buckeye Wellness Innovator) discussing specific event events and university EAP events/activities.  Also the Recognition subcommittee is working on May wellness events such as the chair massages.  More to come

Staff Awards:   Remember to nominate individuals and teams and also share out with your groups.

EHESAC 2024-2025 – Julie will reach out to each person to see if you want to continue on with EHESAC (2 year commitment)  and/or would like to take on a leadership role for next year.  New member Applications will go out in May

Subcommittees:

Professional Development:  working on a list of professional development options.

Recognition Committee:  Working on wellness in May and with EAP & EHE Buckeye Wellness Innovator for additional activities/events; the College has suggested hosting the ice cream social in July, waiting for budget approval.

Remember the College Staff Awards/nominations are due by May 1st.  The committee will send winners to the dean’s office by May 10th.  Monthly Spotlights on Staff.

 

EHE SAC Survey: Meeting next week with more information at the next meeting.

Updates/Questions: 

  • Strategic Planning: Each group created a 2-page draft.  With the change in leadership, the strategic plan is on hold
  • Workforce Planning/staff audit concerns: discussion of concerns and questions related to workforce planning, lack of transparency, budget concerns, and no consistency on what was shared with staff.  Concerns of staff being let go, does the supervisor knows what individuals do, will staff see the results, eventually all colleges will go through the process, it will help in the hiring and rehiring process, additional questions asked
  • Convocation is August 15th (Thursday) West Campus (free space) Mid-morning event
  • Speakers from leadership for future meetings – have an idea please email Julie

Subcommittees met after the meeting.
