Alan is a second-year PhD student with the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University. With over a decade of experience as a clinical anesthesiologist, his academic and professional background encompasses Asia, Africa, and Europe; he is presently affiliated with Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH) , located in Taipei City.
He is passionate about improving the peri-operative outcomes by integrating real world evidence-based knowledge and skill sets with sustainable, resilient practices. His past roles as departmental safety officer at TMUH and committee member of the Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Committee of the Taiwan Society of Anesthesiologists (TSA) have fostered a deep interest in safety science, organizational learning and a growing interest in Resilience Engineering.
Alan is currently learning and researching under the guidance of Dr. Michael Rayo and the teams. His principal areas of interest include resilient complex hospital systems, proactive safety and the responsible management of human-artificial technology teams in both clinical and the broader healthcare environment.
