Contextual presentation week 10
One important factor in the story when Mr. Pirzada came to dine, is the nationality. While Mr. Pirzada is an Pakistan, in particular, East pakistan, Lilia and her families are from Indian. In the story, Lilia’s emotion toward Mr.Pirzada is closely relate to the situation between their countries and the West Pakistan. Many of us probably heard about the relationship between the relationship between these countries but rarely knows the historical context about them.
West Pakistan, or Pakistan nowaday, East Pakistan, known as Bangladesh nowaday and India were an uniform country before the colonization by the Great Britain. In India, there’re two main stream religion. The majority Hindu and minority Islam. Muslims are concentrate on the Northern West and Southern East of India, so after the independent of India, the countries divide into India, East Pakistan and West Pakistan. India’s major religion is Hindu and both Pakistan believe in Islam.
At that time, both of the Pakistan are governed by a government in West Pakistan. Just like description in when Mr. Pirzada came to dine, East Pakistanis are more similar to Indian from many perspective except religion. As a result of subjectivity, West Pakistanis othering East Pakistanis by considering them as ‘Inferior Muslim’, claiming that they are not ‘tall, handsome, and martial’ to be a ‘proper Muslim’. At the same time, since West Pakistan owns the political dominant. Even though East Pakistan is richer, the resources and government is not controlled by their own. West Pakistan utilize their privilege to make their own profit using East Pakistan’s resource. All these behaviour contributes to the later independence of Bangladesh.
In 26 March 1971, signaled by the East Pakistan’s declaration of independence as Bangledesh. West Pakistan send troops into East Pakistan and start the fight. This war known as Bangledesh Liberation war, it last till December, after India military power involve in and support East Pakistan. The war ends quick after India’s involvement. Bangledesh is considered independent after this war and the West Pakistan forms what we known as Pakistan today.

Diary of systemic Injustices
A few month ago, when covid-19 haven’t been wide spread in the US. Chinese students and residents are struggling with one question :” Should we wear mask on the street or not.” As many of our relatives and families living in China, we know better than US people about the importance of wearing mask. Of cource wearing mask would help us preventing covid-19 than buying toilet paper. However, we still need to worry about our safety wearing mask.
Then how would it relates to this cource? And isn’t it individual cases instead of systematic injustice? In my opinion, these crimes and unjustice source from the US society as a whole. Just like nobody hope Sars ever happen, nobody would ever hope the occurance of covid 19, and China has already do the best to prevent the development of the virus. I’m not going further into how China is innocent from the occurance of this worldwide tragedy. What called my attention is how the American government, in the leading of Donald Trump, is trying to attribute the severe situation in the America to China.

While we could see he’s good at blaming other, who should be responsible for the development of the virus? Again, I don’t want to argue a lot. Many speeches from Donald trump would tell us the answer. The link below would lead you to one of the plenty example of the genius speeches from him.

Not only from the perspective of government, the citizens were also developing a discrimination toward asian and toward mask. New York is well known for its mordernization. In my impression, those modern people living in New York should have a greater access to resources and the safety guard there should be fine. Unfortunately, many news about attacks on asian wearing mask was caught on New York City. Here’s a video of an asian being asked to move because he is asian and probably Chinese.

Finally, I would say I’m not born and live in the US. I’m not frequently using the social media in the US. And what I see might not be what American people see, if they also pay attention to these events. So I might also telling a single story stems from my personal emotion and the environment I live in. I’m very glad to see words from a different view from American citizens and what they would say.
