I will start by covering the killing, injustice and impact African Americans have experienced over the past ten years. This discussion will further explain how police brutality and killings has negatively impacted African American communities throughout the United States. The question I pose to you is when will these atrocities end ?
Racism has existed in America since the colonial era. This was a period in which people were subjected to administration by colonial power. When it pertains to racism the Civil Rights M0vement is where we can start to comprehend the dominate effect racism and police brutality has had on African Americans. The Civil Rights Movement was for African American people to advocate and protest for equal rights to bring an end to racial segregation. Minorities who faced these systemic injustices experienced acts of racial discriminations by those having privilege, power and authority.
Within the past ten years and even today African American people have been killed due to violent racial acts of police brutality. These senseless killings have affected the mindset of many African Americans who fear for the lives of their children. These killings have affected the way people interact with law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Even now, African Americans are still fighting for justice for those who have lost their lives due to heinous racial acts of police brutality. Society is no longer is waiting for justice; they are demanding equality by engaging in protest. The Black Lives Matter Movement was founded in 2013, in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Unfortunately, police brutality and shootings have caused families to suffer physically, emotionally and financially.
Today we realize how important race relations has become both from a positive and negative perspective. These avoidable acts subjected to African Americans by the law enforcement community are disheartening. In my opinion, these cases are considered systemic due to the lack of justice being served for families who have experienced these atrocities. Being an African American student it can become uneasy when coming into a diverse setting of different racial groups. In today’s society, race relations have become the topic of discussion.

I think this is a good post, and the topic is very relevant right now as the Black Lives Matter movement is receiving more attention now than ever before. The first picture in the post is very profound. I like how you describe a brief history of the different forms of racism in the United States and how it has gotten to the point it’s at now.
