Starbucks is a worldwide, multi-billion dollar company that stretches across 4 continents. It was estimated that in 2012 Starbucks sold more than 2.3 billion cups of coffee or coffee related beverages. This amassed a whopping 9.46 billion dollars on beverages alone.

Since 2006 Starbucks began offering a cup with 10% post-consumer recycled paper fibers in North America, after helping develop the technology and leading the industry to gain approval for using recycled fiber for packaging. They also offer discount programs for customers who use their own mugs or purchase reusable mugs from them. In 2014, their York, Pennsylvania, roasting plant and distribution center was certified as 100% Landfill Diversion by Underwriters Laboratories.
