Did you know that OSU has a Historic Costume & Textiles Collection? Well, it does, and contrary to popular belief, we do not try to keep ourselves hidden! The HCTC @ OSU contains approximately 12,000 artifacts of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and accessories as well as historic textiles. We are a research resource of the university open to faculty, staff, students and the public and have a gallery space with rotating exhibitions in Campbell Hall. Our current exhibition, History’s Closet: Teaching History Through Clothing just opened on January 23 and will run through June 28, 2014. The exhibition is the culmination of a project funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to digitize artifacts and offer workshops to K-12 history teachers to develop curriculum using the digitized images that meets the standards of the Common Core. More about the exhibition and the website that houses the images can be found at our website and at Fashion2Fiber .
