After many years of increased globalization, social and political trends are now reversing course. What impacts will deglobalization have on our region’s resources and sustainability? What unique characteristics of a region influence these outcomes?
To explore questions like these, our team is creating an integrated Dynamic Regional Food, Energy, Water Systems modeling framework to project and compare the regional effects of changing international relationships. Our modeling framework incorporates key human (economic, behavioral, social) and environmental (physical, natural) linkages across local, regional, and global scales. Working with government and industry advisors this team worked to develop a realistic model to aid decision makers in creating robust policies in the face of uncertainty and change.
