Scheduled Maintenance Window
All CBC computing services, including Windows and Linux file services, print services, and networking, will be unavailable on Tuesday, 14-Aug, from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. During this time we will perform server and network switch hardware and software maintenance. Please be aware that services might appear to be available before midnight, but availability will be intermittent.
Maintenance Complete
All services should be available as of 10:45 pm.
All CBC Computer Services down on 12-Jun-12 from 5:00 p.m. until very late that evening
All Chemistry and Biochemistry computer services are going offline at 5pm on 12-Jun-12 for maintenance in preparation for next term, the Molecular Spectroscopy Symposium, and the CBEC Ground-breaking. Services will be restored very late that evening.
NW 2nd floor network issue corrected
The NW 2nd floor network issue has been corrected. Please restart your computer if you are still experiencing problems.
brief network outages planned for this weekend
Chemistry Computer Users,
There will be brief rolling network outages beginning Saturday, 8am, and lasting until Sunday, 5pm, in the following locations:
* Newman-Wolfram Basement (all rooms)
* Celeste Basement (all rooms)
* Celeste First Floor (all rooms)
During this time we will be performing necessary maintenance on the network closets to improve the reliability and speed of the network, and you may experience brief network outages lasting between 5 and 10 minutes. Specifically, we will be moving the jack connections from our old 3Com network switches to our new HP network switches.
Once your connection has been moved, you should no longer experience any network outages.
If an outage this weekend would cause serious loss of data, please inform Computer Support by end-of-day Friday by emailing Rob Dolan (rdolan@chemistry.ohio-state.edu), and we will work with you to ensure your network connection remains intact.
Maintenance window scheduled for 4/9
All Department of Chemistry servers will be off-line between 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, April 9th. The following services may be unavailable during this maintenance period:
- Internet access
- Email Windows file shares
- LinuxFS and NFS connections
- All web servers
- Plotter, Uniprint, other printing
- License servers
- SharePoint
Linux workstation users should completely logout or power off their computers before 6:00 pm to avoid problems. We will be transferring the data center to a new network switch and applying security updates during this maintenance period.
Department Firewall Reboot
A reboot of the Department firewall is required. This will take place at 6 pm on Friday, January 29. Our access to sites outside the Department will be interrupted for around one minute. Open sessions may need to be restarted. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Mail Service Restored
Normal mail operations have been restored.Please note: we are still contending with network slowdowns.
