Undergraduate research assistants are students who are interested in learning more about the research process. Students enroll in Psych 4998 for 1-5 credits, and gain experience in almost every aspect of the research experience. As a research assistant, you will have the opportunity to aid in study design, questionnaire creation, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of study results.
Why become a research assistant?
Some of the benefits of becoming a research assistant include: learning to apply classroom knowledge about research to a real-world research setting, learning skills in the assessment of cognitive abilities, and broadening your presentation skills. These skills are important to both future employers and graduate school applications.
How can you become a research assistant?
Research assistants receive credit for their experience via the Psych 4998 course. Research assistants are expected to spend 3 hours per week in the lab for each hour of class credit they sign up for. If you are interested in 2 credits of Psych 4998, you would spend 6 hours per week in the lab.
