About Me

Abby Bouton is a Visual Communication Design major as OSU. Throughout her high school career, she participated in the girls tennis team, key club, art club and theatre.

Abby has always been passionate about how art can communicate ideas to the world. Throughout her middle school and early high school years, she took photographs for people, and in her later high school career, she took up painting. Over the past few years, she has began to see the true impact that art makes in the world. In her art classes, people began to express their political feelings and thoughts into their projects. On social media, she saw communities of people forming. YouTube has become one of the main ways that minority youths can go to find others like them. Abby has witnessed this first hand through the LGBT community. Ideas are being spread through a multitude of different art forms on every social media platform. Without media design, social media wouldn’t exist. The ability to connect to others around you would be incredibly harder. Even things that people don’t normally think about, like billboards and ads on TV communicate thoughts and ideas to the world. Because people are exposed to these platforms of information so often, they influence us and how we think. Design is literally changing the world. Even medical fields wouldn’t be able to advance without design. Because of the growing impact that technology has on our lives, now is the perfect time to become a part of this movement and Abby’s goal is to do so with her major.
