End of Year Reflection (Freshman Year)

The first year of college is different for everyone, but is similar in the fact that it is eye-opening. I really enjoyed my freshman year. I made new friends, joined the club soccer team, and had success in my classes. The main thing that I learned from this year was balance. I learned how to balance my studies with social time, exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I feel that I got better at this as the year went on and I will hopefully continue to improve during the coming years.

For this summer, I had applied for a paid volunteer position at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Due to COVID-19, this opportunity is no longer available to me and I will be working a summer job in order to earn money. If possible, I will be shadowing the doctor that made me aware of the Miami Valley Hospital volunteer opportunity. This will help me to gain more experience in the medical field. I will also be taking two online classes this summer through OSU in order to maximize my free time.

Artifacts

This winter, I participated in an event with OSU Women’s Soccer Club and College Mentors For Kids. This event was really eye opening to me because it made me want to more involved on campus. It also helped me realize that I can get involved in organizations that play to my strengths. As a result of attending this event, I applied to be a part of College Mentors For Kids next semester. I hope to have the opportunity to be more involved on campus and make a difference in someone’s life.
