Bessie Coleman was born on 26 January 1892 in Atlanta, Texas. She is one of the well-known pioneers of women in the Aviation world. Her childhood was spent in a small house while taking care of her younger sisters. She also helped her family in the fields at the time of cotton harvesting. She was a determined, hardworking and capable woman whose primary focus was to achieve her dream of becoming a pilot. Moreover, she faced various problems in form of financial hardship while attending the college at Langston University. She was the first African American woman to hold an International pilot license. However, the training of Coleman took place in France as at that time no white pilot was willing to teach her. Irrespective of the discrimination and struggle she faced being an African American, she was motivated and wanted to achieve her goal of performing air shows. She was a down to earth person and knew the pain of not getting equal opportunity and treatment to the blacks in United States. After successfully achieving her dream and becoming immortal in the world of Aviation, she was asked by the reporters about the future goal she wish to accomplish. She stated of introducing aviation to her race and make the aviation world diverse by giving equal opportunities to everyone. She also had plans of opening an aviation school where aviators of any race can come and learn to fly further expanding the resource. Unfortunately, Coleman was tragically killed while rehearsing for an aerial show before she could do the planned.

I got an opportunity to visit Mumbai, India in the summer breaks with my family. This was the first time I had been to a place that has beaches and most of the water sports to have fun. We started by spending some time at the beach and seeing the beautiful sunset which can only be observed from the shoreline. Mumbai is very well known for its street food and the most mouth-watering dish is Vada pao. I started searching for the best street food corner near me to enjoy the delicious Vada pao and other specialties of Mumbai. The next day, we planned to go and see the various famous monuments and museums. The monument which I found the best among every other is The Gateway of India. It was huge, appealing and one can observe the neatness in its architectural design. The museum consisted of the alluring art and armory found in the Palace of great kings from India and other parts of the country. I was stunned by seeing a small, handy statue of Lord Buddha in the museum which was very beautifully decorated with gems and ornaments. We also visited two major temples in Mumbai and enjoyed the biggest gathering of the week for the evening prayer. One of these Shrines is located a mile away from the shoreline into the Sea and is covered with water from almost all the sides just leaving a small path in between to enter and exit. The cool winds blowing and the peaceful environment near the Shrine made me forget everything and observe the beauty of the waves and the Sea.
The trip become more interesting and enjoyable when we visited H20, a place where most of the water sports is available in Mumbai. I started with my favorite speed boat and at first it was scary but after a while it was fun, and I loved it. Then I and my sister decided to do night parasailing which was quite enjoyable as well. Finally, I with my family went on a pleasant night cruise which had a beautiful rooftop restaurant and there was a common place where various games were going on, dance floor, Bar and other fun-loving elements. The dinner I had with my family that day is I believe the best meal I have ever had with them in such a pleasant and beautiful setting. I definitely want to visit Mumbai once again as I have missed a lot of things which should not be left by someone who loves travelling new places and meeting new people.

Recently Emirates introduced a trend of giving away kits to their youngest passengers on board which consists of toys, travel themed lunch box, coloring book with markers and some other child friendly toiletry. This change was implemented in various airlines which clearly shows their concern and care to every age group. Different categories have been created to give the right article to the right child like older children get an animal backpack with a travel journal and toddlers get a stuffed animal such as elephant made up of soft material so that it doesn’t hurt the child. Singapore Airlines has a more specific plan for giving out the kits. For example, Babies get plush blocks, pre-school aged get mini puzzles and other older children get monopoly card. Paul Tumpowsky, the co-founder and chief executive of Skylark a New York travel agency was travelling with her toddler daughter in a flight and he said clearly that these new amenities help in keeping the child occupied in long flights.
Airlines have started using colorful trays to serve meals to the children so that they remain occupied. A new seat back entertainment system is also initiated in airlines that aims on children. It consists of channels like Disney, Cartoon Network, BabyTV, etc. One of the common domestic carrier Jet Blue has asked Headspace to provide recently debuted kid focused videos to include in their in-flight entertainment system. Turkish Airlines has been successful in creating good terms and relation not only with children but the parents with babies as well. The parents get a pack containing a diaper changing mat, disposable bib, rash cream, baby lotion, a packet of wipes and a breast pad. This tells us that to get success in aviation world, airlines are trying their best to create good relations with every passenger on board.

Blog One- Introduction
My name is Kartik Malik. I am from India. I am currently in my sophomore year pursuing BS in Aviation from The Ohio State University. When I was 7, I was send to a boarding school for my education which is located in a famous hill station of India i.e. Nainital. I found science subjects fascinating and exciting which made me thought about pursuing my Bachelors in Science. I still find it awesome that man has put together his creativity, innovativeness, metal and grease and brought Aircraft and other faster means of Transportation in existence.
I still remember running out of my house as soon as I used to hear the sound of the airplane to see it flying over me. I used to glance it for quite long and think that how is it possible for something to fly. I was curious to learn more about this and asked my Grandfather to arrange a trip so that I can also get a chance of flying in an airplane. Surprisingly, one of my grandfather friend was a Captain in Indian Air Force and I was fortunate enough to meet him and ask him for a ride. Few days later, I went on a small ride in the aircraft with my family and as soon as the wheels left the runway, I was sure of what to do the rest of my life. That day I decided of becoming an Airline pilot.
I came to United States for getting better practical knowledge and good flying skills which will assist me in conducting a safe flight operation. My aim is to get into a US based airline due to the healthy work environment and good pay scale offered by them. The benefits which the airline gives to their employees is also a considerable point for me as I love travelling to new places and meeting new people.
