Purpose Statement
Members are exposed to many of the subfields of astronomy: cosmology, planetary studies, active galactic nuclei, stellar studies, galactic studies, and general fun space stuff!
Our society’s purpose is twofold:
It provides an academic and social connection between undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty within the astronomy department, and promotes academic and professional growth among astronomy students.
It also provides a good atmosphere for non-astronomy majors by allowing them to learn much about the field that they would not normally experience in introductory courses or see in the public media.
