Baby Beef & Market Beef Deadline

If you are competing at the Ohio State Fair with your market steer, we have the required DNA kits at the Extension Office.  Please make sure you have submitted your enrollment in 4Honline with a market beef project so Jackie can sign your DNA kit. These DNA kits must be RECEIVED at the Columbus address by January 15 to be eligible to show your market beef at the State Fair.  For STATE FAIR participation, market beef need to be identified in 4Honline by January 1 to meet their requirements.

American Youth Southdown Association Grant

This program will award grant money to be used to purchase a new breeding ewe from a list of participating breeders. The breeder will also serve as a mentor to the participating family. More information at the website below.

Firelands Electric 2026 Youth Tour Opportunity

YOUTH TOUR EXPERIENCE

Firelands will sponsor up to two high school sophomores or juniors on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., as part of the June 14-20, 2026 Youth Tour. Firelands Electric, in cooperation with Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA), offers this exciting opportunity to students who live in a home served by the cooperative. Selected delegates will travel to Washington, D.C., with students and chaperones from co-ops throughout the state of Ohio. Once in the nation’s capital, they will be joined by roughly 1,800 additional students from electric cooperatives across the country. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet congressional leaders, visit historical sites, and make lifelong friendships.
