Class Attendance

You are expected to attend each class session. It is not enough just to submit assignments and take your exams; you are also required to go to class in person. You may get grade points for class attendance.

If you are not able to attend a class due to illness or other events beyond your control, e-mail your instructor prior to the class time to let them know you will not be there, and to see if you need to make up missed work. If an assignment is due in class that day, be sure to submit it on time.

If you do not attend a class at all, it will not automatically be dropped from your schedule, but rather you receive a grade of “EN” for the course, which is like a failing grade. If you want to drop a course in the middle of the term you must make an appointment with your academic advisor, and also consult an immigration coordinator at the Office of International Affairs to verify that dropping the class will not affect your immigration status.
