Academic integrity is fundamental to what it means to be an Ohio State Buckeye!
What it means to uphold integrity is often defined in the negative: don’t cheat, don’t copy someone else’s work, don’t plagiarize, etc. Avoiding those behaviors is absolutely very important, but more important still is understanding the value behind having the opportunity to voice and take credit for your own ideas, and respect and acknowledge those of others.
The International Center for Academic Integrity (http://www.academicintegrity.org/icai/home.php) defines academic integrity as “a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage” (http://www.academicintegrity.org/icai/resources-2.php). At Ohio State, you will find those six values to be the underpinning of our academic pursuits. Being successful here means approaching your own academic career in the same spirit.
