Beat Xichigan in the 14th annual Pop Tab Battle!

Let’s help out this 4-H club in their pop tab battle! Hamilton County 4-H clubs can collect tabs and they will be delivered to the Ashtabula 4-H Educator in November.

The Barns and Buttons 4-H Club of Ashtabula County invites you to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio (Columbus) beat Xichigan in the 14th annual Pop Tab Battle!

Annika, a member of the Barnes and Buttons 4-H Club, had a double lung transplant in September of 2021 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. She and her family spent 167 consecutive nights at the Ronald McDonald House (as well as countless other nights over the past 6 years). Pop tabs are used to help pay the electric bill at the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio added 64 guest rooms in 2023. The house can now serve 6500 families yearly from all over the world!! This facility allows families to be able to stay near their sick child while they receive treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

How Can you Help?

  • Save the tabs from soda cans, seltzer cans, soup cans, pet food cans, vegetable cans,  tennis ball cans.
  • Ask family members, friends, and neighbors to save their tabs.
  • Collect as many tabs as you can from now until November 1, 2025.
  • Bring your tabs to your Hamilton County 4-H Educator and she will give them to the Ashtabula 4-H Educator in November.

Our club will be delivering all the tabs collected to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio in November to help them once again beat Xichigan (all tabs due to the house by the OSU v. Xichigan game on November 29)!! Let’s surpass the 235 pounds of pop tabs we donated last year!!

Harvest Home Volunteers – New Information!

New Procedure for Harvest Home Fair Volunteers

This year at Harvest Home Fair, the security team has implemented new procedures for volunteers.

  1. We WILL NOT be able to let anyone into the side gate by our tent. Volunteers must enter through the main gate. Your name will be on a list and you will receive a wristband to get onto the grounds each day you’re volunteering. If you signed up on the signup genius, or are someone who typically helps out, your name is already on the list. Click here for the list: Go.osu.edu/harvesthomelist
  2. All youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times on the property.

Email Claire at Linepensel.2@osu.edu with any questions. Hope to see you at Harvest Home Fair!!
