Charles Nickel Endowed Engineering Scholarship Fund

Established November 7, 2014, with an estate gift from Charles A. Nickel. Used to provide tuition for students enrolled in the College of Engineering who graduated from Celina High School in Celina, Ohio, or its successors.

Charles A. Nickel, age 81, of Houghton Lake, MI, passed away on December 16, 2013 at the Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living Home in DeWitt, MI. He was born on November 28, 1932 in Celina, Ohio, to the late Arthur W. and Doris (Moffett) Nickel. He was preceded in death by his sister Matilda Nickel Johnson. He graduated from Celina High School in 1950 and The Ohio State University in 1954, he retired from General Motors in 1992, and was a longtime resident of Houghton Lake, MI. Chuck was a member of Celina Lodge #241 F and AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Grand Rapids, Saladin Shrine temple of Grand Rapids. He enjoyed snowmobiling and skiing, living by the lake, and his constant companion dog “Heidi”.
